ASSISTANCE WHEN SOMEONE HAS PASSED AWAY
Every time someone has passed away, this needs to be recorded at the local civil registry. In the case of Argentinians, it is recommended to register the event before Argentine authorities after obtaining the local death certificate*.
You can register someone’s passing away at this Consulate and receive a certificate to submit before Argentine authorities that may request it for various paperwork.
You can request the registration by posting the required documents and a return envelope.
Requirements:
- British death certificate with an Apostille (no translation needed*)
- DNI and Argentine passport of the deceased person
- DNI/passport of the person requesting the registration (DNI for Argentinians, passport for other nationalities)
- Address, email and phone number of the person requesting the registration
In case no Argentine IDs can be submitted for the deceased person, please write to notarialesclond@mrecic.gov.ar including your phone number.
*Should you register the death in Argentina (without Consular intervention), the British certificate MUST be apostilled AND translated into Spanish with a certified translator.
